Shakespeare

Every year the kids have gotten the opportunity to do a summer theatre production put on by Prairie Fire Children's Theatre. It is a week of afternoon practices, culminating in two performances at the end of the week. Usually it is some variation of a fairy tale, but this year our schedule took us to Verndale instead of Wadena for the play and they tackled Shakespeare and a Midsummer Nights Dream. They had a blast! The boys were "groundlings" and the girls were "fairies". Can't wait to see what they do this year!

Golf!

We are lucky enough to have a few fabulous golf courses around us and each year the kids get the opportunity to take golf lessons at one of the local courses. I love that my kids are willing to try everything and anything to see what types of things that they enjoy doing. Golf is definitely a favorite, even if we don't get to take them out on the course much more than the lessons that they take. This year they had a family night, where we got to go out and watch them golf. Watch out when you have a bunch of cousins all taking lessons at the same time - their parents might get a little rowdy on the golf carts! :)

Itasca State Park

There are a few things that have to happen in our family in order to make our summer complete. One of them is definitely fishing at Itasca State Park, along with crossing the rocks and wading in the headwaters of the Mississippi. We always hit up our favorite fishing spot and spend some time playing in the water, catching a few fish, playing with worms and just being together...

Exploring

When you spend almost every day (and/or night) at a baseball game, you find ways to entertain yourselves! Luckily, most of our games involve cousins, so there are plenty of friends to go exploring and playing with. Thank goodness for different playgrounds that are close by the baseball fields and walking paths to explore!

Dad's 60th

When your dad turns 60 - you must throw a party! We surprised dad with a small gathering for his birthday. It was a lot of fun sharing memories and spending time together...

Summer Theatre

Beau was super excited that he was old enough to be a part of "Grandma's play" this year. They boys both chose to do this over other events that were planned and had a blast doing the practices and performance!
