1st Place!

We spent my birthday with Brody at another wrestling meet and it was so worth it!! He pinned his first guy and beat his second guy 13-7. This meant that he got 1st place for the first time! His smile lit up the whole gym!!

Brody's 1st match...

Brody had his 2nd wrestling tournament this weekend and took 2nd place again. He lost the first match - which Josh said was the toughest kid in his bracket, 10-9, pinned the 2nd guy and beat the last girl 17-9. He is starting to learn a few more moves ands Josh is very excited that he isn't just going in for the big bear hug and then trying to muscle the people down. He is actually shooting for the legs and taking people down that way. Aren't you proud of me learning the "wrestling lingo"? I tried to post a few more videos, but the only one that I got up was in the next post... They are just too long and won't come up on the screen!

Here is Brody's 2nd match from yesterday. Not his toughest that he has wrestled, but he gets pretty excited about pinning other kids!

Wrestling....

Brody had his first wrestling match yesterday and after only 3 practices, came in 2nd place! He beat the first two guys that he wrestled pretty easily, but then the bigger guy came into the picture and he got pinned in the 2nd period. No tears for losing, but tears for "that guy had me around the neck..." Guess we need to work a little more on escaping holds! :) He did win a trophy though, so he was pretty dang excited about that - we won't let on quite yet that everyone wins trophies in elementary wrestling, no matter what place you get!

Side note: No pictures of Beau... He didn't quite make it to the first tournament. Practices were a but too much for him and he ended up not wanting to go. I think he is regretting his decision after seeing Brody's trophy, but we will wait until next year to try again! :)

Spaghetti!

So, I tried a new recipe the other night and the kids loved it!! I was giggling so much watching them eat it, I just had to sit and take pictures for a while... Only Beau and Bella made the photo shoot - Brody is too big to make this big of mess! :)

I'm a little scared to admit it, but wrestling has entered my household. Those of you that know me know that I am a basketball girl all the way... I know absolutely ZERO about wrestling. Unfortunately I have a husband that loves wrestling and a nephew that is already a member of the wrestling team. Add those two things together and throw in a kindergarten teacher whose husband is one of the wrestling coaches and you get a 5 year old that really wants to be a part of the wrestling team.

So, Monday night, Josh takes Brody and Beau to Brody's first practice. Imagine my surprise when he comes home with not one of those god awful singlets, but TWO!! So, here we are with two boys in wrestling... Two boys that are VERY EXCITED to be in wrestling! Break out the Wrestling for Dummies book mom, cause you might be a lifer if this excitement continues!

But honestly, don't they look stinkin' adorable?? (oh whoops, I mean tough as nails?? :)

Snowmobiling!

We met up with my brother and his wife the other day and they took the kids out sledding on the back of the snowmobile! The kids had a great time... We started at the wrong spot, so my kids were playing on the playground at our local park. It was pretty entertaining, especially since no one had been there since the snow!

Brody got a paper jams guitar for Christmas and all the kids, both big and small love to play it! Bella brings it to me all the time saying, "on, on..."

Winter fun!

I had to snap a few pictures to prove that you still can have fun outside even when it is freezing outside! :) The windchill this day was a balmy -20 with windchill and the kids wanted to go outside for a bit. I figured that it would be one of those put on all their gear and then take it all off a few minutes later days, but I was way wrong!! They were outside for over an hour and had so much fun!! Josh said that his building was blocking a big part of the wind, so that was helpful! They went out in the morning and helped Josh to plow the driveway and then in the afternoon to make the "fort" in our front yard!
